Ian Pollard

Soft Tissue Massage Therapist

Ian trained as a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist with the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) gaining a Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy. He is a member of the Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists, Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM).

Having always been actively involved in sport, Ian has had direct experience of a great many different sports over the years including rugby, football and cricket team sports; skiing, kayaking, tennis/squash; running, cycling and triathlon endurance sports etc to name a few. In the past he has coached junior rugby and disability skiing and currently coaches endurance running (he is a UKA qualified and licensed Coach in Running Fitness). He has been a running club member for many years with a wide range of road and trail experience from competing in numerous races and events. All this has given him great understanding of the training and competitive demands of sport, and of the issues which sports men and women of all ages encounter across a range of experience levels from beginners and every day keep fit up to elite and professional athletes.

Similarly, with a range of work, career and family life spanning several decades he also appreciates how the stresses and strains of our busy daily lifestyles affect both our physical and mind-body wellbeing and how the same musculoskeletal injuries and imbalances are encountered in our everyday lives and routines. Following the simple premise that the body identifies movement or lack of it, function or dysfunction however caused, whether we label our own activity as sport, work or lifestyle, Ian’s Soft Tissue Therapy is perfectly suited and equally beneficial to all.

Ian continues to update his professional knowledge and development, attending regular workshops, courses and conferences both in person and online, covering a wide range of topics and interests within Soft Tissue Therapy and sport, injury prevention and rehabilitation, anatomy and movement, biomechanics and foot function. He is an advocate of the fascial approach to his treatments, particularly referencing the Anatomy Trains ‘Structure and Function’ and Stecco ‘Fascial Manipulation’ approaches.

Ian also works on various endurance sports events, including 3-day ultra-marathons, sprint to full Iron distance triathlons and cycle sportives, all of which add greater depth and awareness to his Soft Tissue Therapy practice; plus a major chilli festival, which brings its own physical challenges!

  • What our clients say

I had my first experience of Acupuncture with Lisa for ongoing neck and shoulder pain. I had tried everything but after two sessions it went away completely. It was a very good experience. Lisa really tuned into my body and used a range of Chinese medicine techniques to investigate what I needed. I would definitely recommend this form of treatment. LS
