McTimoney Chiropractic
McTimoney Chiropractic is typified by a whole body assessment and swift, light force adjustments, which makes it a comfortable treatment to receive. The subtlety of the adjustment demands great sensitivity and mechanical skill, and is extremely effective.
The gentle nature of this technique makes it especially suitable for people of all ages including children, pregnant women and the elderly.
Because of the way the treatment positively affects the functioning of the nervous system, the following conditions often benefit from treatment:
- Back, neck and shoulder pain
- Pain, discomfort and stiffness in joints and bones
- Migraine and tension headaches
- Muscular aches and pains
- Sciatica
- Whiplash injury
- Sports injuries
- Repetitive Strain injury
What to expect from your first treatment
Joanna will take a full case history regarding your general health background as well as details of your symptoms. This will help in assessing and analysing your particular problem. She will then thoroughly examine the joints in your body, literally from head to toe, and undertake any further clinical assessment that might be necessary to determine that it is safe to treat you.
Joanna has a very finely tuned sense of touch, developed in six years of training, which enables her to identify misalignments of the vertebrae and other bones. Upon finding a problem, she will use one of a number of light, swift and dexterous techniques, to adjust each individual bone that requires it.
You will be offered postural and lifestyle advice after the treatment to help you get the most benefit from the adjustments you have received, and to raise your awareness of simple things that you may doing every day which may be exacerbating your problem. You may also be given some basic exercises or stretches to do.
Joanna spent six years training at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Chiropractic Studies in 2008.
She has also trained in Holistic and Therapeutic Massage, Muscle Release Technique, Sports Injury Therapies, Health and Nutrition.
